Elk Draw Watchers
ARKANSAS HERD THRIVES ALONG BUFFALO RIVER TERRITORY

A bull elk and several cow elk graze in a field near Boxley. The elk herd in the Buffalo River area is growing and are a major tourist draw in the Boxley and Ponca areas. These “tourist elk” are not in the Arkansas elk hunting zone. Elk downstream from the low-water bridge are fair game during the limited permit elk season.
