Police: University Professor Kills Self Near City Trail

— Police said a man was found dead near the Lake Fayetteville Bridge on Sunday after he apparently committed suicide.

Investigators identified the man as Scott O’Leary-Kelly, 51, of 220 E. Lafayette St.

Police Sgt. Craig Stout said O’Leary-Kelly was a supply chain management professor at the University of Arkansas.

He was recently being investigated by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office on allegations of file sharing involving illegal images, Stout said.

Investigators reportedly searched his house over the weekend and seized several computers.

About 4 p.m. on Sunday, O’Leary-Kelly reportedly called 911 to report that he was going to commit suicide on the Lake Fayetteville Bridge.

“About three minutes later, we got a call from someone on the trail who found his body,” Stout said.

O’Leary-Kelly is survived by his wife and daughter.
