— Two product recalls that suspended production at Sprindale’s Cargill turkey plant sent 130 local workers to the unemployment line Monday.

The workers had been reassigned elsewhere in the plant temporarily. Some voluntarily took time off in hopes the plant production would resume quickly, which hasn’t happened, said Michael Martin, spokesman.

He said workers could be called back once production resumes, but there is no target date.
