Area Lumberyards Hold On

INDUSTRY REPORTS BOOST IN SALES BECAUSE OF REPAIRS AFTER STORMY SPRING

Local lumberyards report a recent uptick in sales because of a stormy spring, but overall business is expected to remain tepid into 2013.

The data compares prices for 1,000 feet of framing lumber purchased during the week of Sept. 15 each year from 2006 to 2011.

Sluggish demand for lumber has driven the price down 12.6 percent.
