MONEY MATTERS: Sports Park Bids Exceed Estimate

CITY CONTINUES CULLING AFTER $5 MILLION EXTRA SHOCK

Bids for the city’s planned sports park came in higher than expected, giving officials a case of sticker shock.

AT A GLANCE

New Rogers Parks

The 60-acre sports park and the aquatic center will become the flagship parks for the city.

• The sports park is to have six softball/baseball fields, five soccer fields, concession stands, meeting rooms, a trail, two pavilions, a water feature and a playground.

• The aquatic center will feature a splash park and a toddler pool, several large slides, a larger pool for teens and adults, a concession stand and a 25-meter lap pool.
