A Rogers police officer photographs wreckage at the scene of a vehicular accident Wednesday morning on NE Hudson in Rogers.

— An Avoca couple died in an accident Wednesday on Northeast Hudson Road just south of Morsani Road.

Rogers police said Doris and Arlis Metcalf, both 71, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Doris Metcalf was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero which was southbound in the outside lane when it drove on to the west curb then struck a 2001 Volkswagen Passatt driven by Jennifer Canfield, 33, of Garfield.

Police said the force of the impact caused the Passatt to leave the west side of the highway and strike bicyclist, Clifford Crose, 46, believed to be a Rogers resident.

Metcalf’s vehicle then crossed into the northbound lane and into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup driven by Blake Brewer, 28, of Fayetteville. Police said the Metcalf vehicle then came to rest east of the roadway.

Crose was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center by AirEvac air ambulance.

Two passengers in Brewer’s pickup, Nathan Gertson, 25, and Bryan Neal, 20, both of Fayetteville, were taken Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville.
