Fort Smith fire improvements hinge on tax renewal

The Fort Smith Fire Department needs $8.5 million for a new fire station, replacement of old fire trucks and modernization all of the city’s 10 fire stations to retain its current efficiency rating, the fire chief told city directors Tuesday.
