Council To Hear School Request

Shelters Overcrowded

Sly, center, a three-year old male poodle, jumps up and down in his cage Wednesday at the Rogers Animal Shelter. Despite hosting numerous adoption drives in the recent weeks, the Rogers Animal Shelter, which also serves as Bentonville’s shelter, is over capacity, housing 80 dogs and 54 cats. “We get from 4,500 to 5,000 animals through here in a year. That’s considerably more than this facility is equipped to handle,” said Justine Middleton, shelter superintendent.
