Missouri Southern State University

Since Red Cross set up its relief base at the university, it has become the central hub of volunteerism in Joplin. Medical assistance, supplies and grief counseling are all available on campus. Those seeking to volunteer can call the AmeriCorp Volunteer Resource Center at 479-659-5464 or call the university directly at 417-625-9300.

Red Cross

Donations to the Red Cross can be made by visiting the website redcross.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS. Cellphone users can text the word “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Kum & Go

Area Kum & Go stores are accepting $1 donations until June 5 at all stores. The money will go the American Red Cross for relief efforts.

United Way

United Way of Northwest Arkansas’s 2-1-1 information and referral service is working closely with the Missouri 2-1-1 service in aiding the residents of Joplin. The United Way is receiving regular updates from contacts at Missouri 2-1-1, and communicating it to Arkansas 2-1-1 callers. Northwest Arkansas residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1 to get information about finding family and friends, volunteer information, donation drop-off locations and recognized monetary donation organizations.

Chambers Collecting

Area Chambers of Commerce will be collecting items through Tuesday. Immediate needs are first aid kits, toiletries, water bottles, blankets, nonperishable food, extension cords and generators. Baby items are also needed, including diapers, formula and wipes.

Cross Church

Cross Church, with three campuses across Northwest Arkansas, is taking donations of bottled water, toiletries, packaged snacks, wipes and hand sanitizer, diapers, tarps, flashlights, batteries, storage containers and work gloves. Items may be dropped off at any church.

Cross Church is sending teams to Joplin every day to work with Calvary Baptist Church of Joplin. The church is providing breakfast, lunch and a clean-up crew. More teams will be formed and sent to Joplin over the coming days and weeks — most will be day trips. Contact the church for more information on volunteering or visit crosschurch.com.

Give Blood

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donor centers in Springdale, 3503 S. Thompson, and Bentonville, 1400 S.E. Walton Blvd., will be open Saturday for the Laps for Life Blood Drive. Participants will receive an O’Reilly Auto Parts Frisbee, a ticket to an upcoming race at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., and be entered to win a grand prize of tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup or Nationwide series race at the Texas Motor Speedway later this year.

CBCO donors provide blood for patients at 37 area hospitals, including Joplin.

Springdale

• Join for Joplin, a three-on-three basketball tournament is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 at the Springdale High School Gymnasium, 101 S. Pleasant St. Cost is $5 per person. Register at the Springdale High School website, springdale.shs.schoolfusion.us. Forms are due June 2. Participants must be at least 13 years old.

• Victory Church Northwest Arkansas is putting together care packages. Pastor Billy Coffman said volunteers are needed as well as donations of plastic storage boxes, laundry baskets, personal hygiene products, baby items, bedding, strollers, towels and washcloths, pillows and nonperishable food. • The Northwest Arkansas Home Builders Association is encouraging donors to bring additional supplies to DHL Express at 327 E. Robinson Ave. Items needed include nonperishable food, water, flashlights and batteries, blankets and infant supplies.

Fayetteville

• The city and the Fayetteville Council of Neighborhoods are accepting donations of water and nonperishable food at all city fire stations from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Tuesday.

• The Walton Arts Center and Arkansas Music Pavilion will be collecting cash to benefit the Red Cross at all events this week, said spokesman Beth Goodwin. Donation jars also will be set up at all Artosphere events.

• Mount Comfort Church of Christ is collecting water, nonperishable food items, bedding, personal care items, baby items, work gloves, flip-flops, paper plates, cups, towels, $25 gift cards for Walmart or restaurants. • Panera Bread will collect money for Joplin’s Salvation Army through Monday. The Salvation Army is housing and feeding as many of the victims as possible in addition to the population it is already helping. Donations can be added to your purchase.

• Ozark Natural Foods in Fayetteville is collecting canned meats and nonperishable food items, diapers, blankets and related items, according to Avril Sabo. Items can be dropped off at the co-op, 1554 N. College Ave. Sabo said collections are expected to continue for several weeks.

• Keller Williams Realty in Fayetteville is collecting donations for tornado victims at 2418 E. Joyce Blvd. 479-756-5499.

• Adventure Subaru, 2781 N. College, is collecting any donations. The business will make trips to Joplin when trucks are full. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 479-251-2175.

Wakarusa

Rogers

• Tracy DeLeon and her family will take donations at her office, 104 N. 11th St., through the end of June. Items needed are buckets, work gloves, shovels, heavy duty dustpans, hammers, pry bars and other cleanup items, boots, small coolers and foldable chairs. • Doctors from the Cat Clinic of Northwest Arkansas are making day trips to Joplin to search and care for cats this week. The clinic is collecting food, bedding and cat litter. Donations can be made at 1031 W. Walnut St. 479-631-6661.

• Tucker Furniture and Appliance, 2013 N. 13th St., is collecting extension cords, blankets, towels, first aid items, hygiene products, toilet paper and baby items until trucks are full. 479-636-2608.

• Main Street Rogers will have live music from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight. Bring tarps, blankets, baby supplies or money to donate.

• Life Connection Church is accepting basic medical supplies, clothing, blankets, nonperishable food, water, toiletries and baby supplies at 411 E. Walnut. The church will be taking a crew to Joplin on Saturday to help with relief efforts. 479-621-8500.

Bentonville

• Faith Bentonville is collecting money, bottled water, toiletries, nonperishable food, baby items, tarps, flashlights, batteries, storage containers, work gloves, sheets and pillows, toilet paper, sleeping bags and blankets through next week.
