Blue Bell Dessert Trio like an ice cream buffet

— July is National Ice Cream month and in celebration, Blue Bell has introduced a limited flavor named Dessert Trio. It’s sort of like a dessert sampler, combining classic American treats in one ice cream. The vanilla ice cream is loaded with pieces of chocolate chip cookie, pecan brownie and chocolate-coated cake.

Blue Bell products are sold at most major supermarkets, where a half gallon costs $5 to $6. Sadly though, readers often call or e-mail me with stories of not being able to find the flavors I write about in their local store. The folks at Blue Bell are aware of this issue, but unfortunately, with many of the flavors being limited editions, once they’re all gone that’s it.

Campbell Soup Co.’s V8 V-Fusion beverages are made with a combination of fruit and vegetable juices that provide a full serving of each in 8 ounces, and have no added sugar. Concord Grape Raspberry and Concord Grape Raspberry Light were recently added to the line. The flavor is a combination of grape, apple, raspberry, sweet potato, carrot and other juices, and is really pretty tasty.

V-Fusion is sold in 46-ounce bottles ($5) and in July, Strawberry Banana Light and Tea Raspberry Green Tea will also be available in 6-packs of 8-ounce slim cans that cost about $5.

Alouette is a company that markets a large line of soft spreadable cheese in flavors that include Pepper Medley, Creamy Onion & Shallot, Savory Vegetable, Garlic & Herbs and Sun-dried To m a t o . Also offered are lower calorie versions like Light Cucumber Dill and Light Garlic and Herb, and recently debuted - Light Spinach Artichoke. Though a lighter version of the original flavor, it doesn’t taste like a “light” product.

Alouette spreadable cheese products are sold at most major stores, and cost $5.49 per 6.5-ounce tub. If you’re interested in other Alouette products, recipes, serving suggestions or nutritional information, go to Alouettecheese.com.
