— Federal law enforcement officers have charged 20 people who are accused of smuggling pounds of methamphetamine into central Arkansas.

The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that 17 people have been arrested as part of the probe that involved multiple state, local and federal agencies.

The arrests began Friday in White and Lonoke counties during a sweep in which seven defendants were taken into custody. Ten more people were arrested Monday.

Authorities say the ring was distributing multiple pounds of meth each week. Agents seized seven pounds of methamphetamine along with weapons, cars, motorcycles, boats and a tractor.

Investigators are still looking for the remaining defendants. All of the people named in the case are from Arkansas.
