Woman reports armed robbery on Fayetteville Square

— Police are seeking a man who reportedly robbed a woman at gunpoint Friday on the Fayetteville Square.

Fayetteville officers responded to the University of Arkansas Global Campus, 2 E. Center St. at 12:35 p.m. for a reported robbery.

Cpl. Craig Stout said a woman called 911 after her 64-year-old mother reported being robbed.

The woman’s mother told police she was robbed by a white man, wearing light-colored shorts, a dark shirt, ball cap, sunglasses and tennis shoes.

The elder woman was parked outside the building at Center Street and East Avenue in a Chevrolet Malibu when the man opened her passenger side door and sat down, police said.

“The gentleman was armed with a handgun,” Stout said. “He demanded that she take him to an ATM. She refused so he demanded money.”

According to a 911 call, the gunman took $100 from the woman.

Stout said he couldn’t confirm how much money was stolen.

The gunman was last seen walking northbound on East Street.

No injuries were reported and no arrest had been made as of late Friday afternoon.

Stout said investigators are reviewing video footage to try to identify the robber.
