PUBLIC DISPLAYS CAN BE A CHALLENGE, LEAD TO POLITICALLY TREACHEROUS TERRITORY

There, in a nicely landscaped public area in Burien, Wash., she squats. Made of bronze, the woman in contemplation peers downward in an area visited by kids and adults. Until recently, her nude form was displayed in an art gallery. Now, her fully-exposed anatomical form greets visitors to a privately-owned but open-to-the-public property just next door to the community’s new library.
