District Upgrades Internet Connection

Students and teachers in the Rogers School District will have access to faster, cheaper classroom Internet connections this year, school officials said.

BY THE NUMBERS

Rogers School Broadband

40 megabits per second: Connection provided by state.

60 megabits per second: Additional capacity Rogers bought from state for the 2010-11 school year.

$7,393 per month: Cost of additional bandwidth.

100 megabits per second: Amount of additional bandwidth purchased from Windstream.

140 megabits per second: Total district capacity after upgrade.

$462 per month: Cost of upgraded service after 79 percent federal subsidy.
