WORKERS SERVE AS TRANSLATORS IN SPRINGDALE AND ROGERS

Ursula Galvez, center, helps students at Southwest Junior High School decide on a shirt design Wednesday in Springdale. The shirts will be worn during a skit the girls are performing at an upcoming pep rally. Galvez is an AmeriCorps volunteer and most often works with students and parents as a translator for their school needs.
Staff members at Parson Hills Elementary School will make home visits when they cannot reach a parent.

Spanish-Speaking Students
The AmeriCorps Family Outreach program provides translators and interpreters in school offices at Springdale and Rogers.
Springdale has 7,637 students from Spanish-speaking households, and Rogers has 5,492.
