LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe says he's nominating a former state representative from Jacksonville to be the state's Democratic Party chairman.
Beebe said Friday he's nominated former state Rep. Will Bond to lead the party for the next two years.
If elected by the party's state committee, Bond would replace outgoing chairman Todd Turner of Arkadelphia. Turner told The Associated Press on Friday that he planned to step down as chairman.
Beebe praised Turner's work as chairman and said he wasn't to blame for the party's losses in November, when Republicans won three out of four congressional seats, a U.S. Senate seat, three constitutional offices and the most seats they've had in the Legislature since Reconstruction.
