Collen to speak at Downtown Tip-Off Club

Arkansas women’s Coach Tom Collen will speak at the weekly meeting of the Downtown Tip-Off Club today at noon at the Wyndham Riverfront hotel in North Little Rock.

Collen has coached for four years at Arkansas and was the program’s first assistant head coach in the mid-1990s. He has coached five All-SEC selections, including current player C’eira Ricketts.

Annual membership to the Downtown Tip-Off Club is $40. Lunch, which begins at 11:15 a.m., is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

SOFTBALL

UAFS earns victory

Arkansas Fort-Smith won the finale of a three game series Sunday in Fort Smith with an 8-6 victory over Fort Hays State.

UAFS (4-6) snapped a five-game losing streak. Designated hitter Christian Allen was 2 of 4 with a double and three RBI.

UAFS will host Harding on Tuesday.

UAM finishes tournament

Arkansas-Monticello ended the Quad State Classic with a 13-5 victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday in Bentonville.

The Cotton Blossoms (16-1) totaled 17 hits. Kayla Jackson (9-0) pitched a complete game. Jackson and freshman Summer Huddleston each had three hits.

GYMNASTICS

Arkansas posts performance on road

Arkansas totaled a season-high road score Sunday as the Razorbacks beat Illinois-Chicago 196.50-193.775 in Chicago.

Junior All-American Jaime Pisani tied the school record on floor and won the all-around with a 39.35. Jordan Salsberg and Katherine Grable tied for the beam title with a 9.85, and Michelle Stout won bars with a 9.775.

TENNIS

Arkansas women finish nonconference

The No. 16 Arkansas women’s team finished their non-conference season with a 5-2 victory over Rice on Sunday in Fayetteville.

Arkansas (10-3) lost to Rice last year, but secured the doubles point for an early lead. Arkansas sophomore Claudine Paulson clinched the winning point after a loss in the first set.

GOLF

Arkansas fourth in Florida

Arkansas freshman Sebastian Cappelen shot three-under par 69 Sunday at the first round of the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. as the Razorbacks sit in fourth.

Arkansas trails Auburn and TCU, each at six-under, by three strokes and LSU by one. Cappelen is seventh individually and two shots off the lead.
