PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Murders Can’t Be Ignored

— Being a former resident and avid pupil of Madison County history, I’ve come to the realization in my research that Madison County has had its share of unsolved murders.

Since the conception of Madison County in the 1800s, numerous unsolved murders have occurred through the years.

In the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 21:1-9, Moses described the law concerning an unsolved murder. The truth is, an unsolved murder involves the entire community in blood guilt, and the community as a whole has to seek atonement for that unsolved murder.

It’s my fervent intercession that the inhabitants of Madison County will wipe the dust off their Bibles and turn to Deuteronomy 21:1-9 and read about the law concerning anunsolved murder. Let’s not have anymore injustices befall Madison County. Oh, by the way, I feel pretty safe living in Washington County.

PRESS OPERATORS BRAVE STORM

There is a group of people who seldom receive praise for their efforts in ensuring we receive our newspapers after weather events.

I have two sons who work at night in the press room at the facility in Lowell. They make the trek up there from Fayetteville for their required shifts regardless of the road conditions, as do a number of others from all over the area. I join the applause for the carriers whomake sure those papers are in our drives, as well as the reporters who go out and get the news that will be printed. When my sons were called in early Wednesday after the storm this week, I decided to write this letter of praise for the ones who actually put the ink on the paper. They are a huge part of the whole. I appreciate all of the efforts because my day is thrown off kilter if I can’t read my paper with my morning coffee.

Maybe there are others out there who would like to give praise to another segment most of us seldom think about, until we need their services. I say let’s start a trend and do just that. There’s enough bad news; we could brighten somebody’s day, maybe.
