The buzz

— Music marches on in March with new albums by Lucinda Williams, Buddy Miller, R.E.M., The Strokes and Jennifer Hudson, and a new extended play (EP) release by Lady Gaga.

High-profile reissues include 40th anniversary editions of Derek and the Dominoes’ Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs and Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water. In addition, Traffic’s John Barleycorn Must Die has been expanded with rarities and live material.

Release dates are subject to change.

TUESDAY

Lucinda Williams, Blessed, Lost Highway. A dozen new songs. The deluxe edition has a second disc with the album’s songs as demos.

Marsha Ambrosius, Late Nights and Early Mornings, J. Singer-songwriter from Floetry; includes single “I Hope She Cheats on You.”

Linda Eder, Now, Sony.

Aaron Lewis, Town Line, Stroudavarious. Staind’s Aaron Lewis has recorded an EP of Americana-flavored tunes.

Buddy Miller, Majestic Silver Strings, New West. Great Americana guitarist, songwriter and singer performs country classics with guests Lee Ann Womack, Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and his wife, Julie Miller.

Harry Connick Jr., In Concert on Broadway, Columbia.

Neil Diamond, The Bang Years, Legacy. Twenty-three Diamond tunes from 1966-68 in monophonic, including “Shilo,” “Cherry, Cherry,” “Solitary Man” and “Do It.”

Lupe Fiasco, Lasers, Atlantic. Rapper’s latest includes the single “The Show Goes On.”

Simon and Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water (40th Anniversary Edition), Columbia Legacy. One CD and one DVD, which has the CBS special Songs of America, footage of the duo’s 1969 tour, a documentary and new interviews with Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, producer Roy Halee and others.

Traffic, John Barleycorn Must Die, Universal. Two CDs. The 1970 album was originally to have been a Steve Winwood solo album; it became the third Traffic album. Second disc in the deluxe edition has live performances from that tour.
