Greenway Trial Pushed Back

— The murder trial for Randall Greenway of Rogers has been pushed back to June.

Greenway, 39, is charged with capital murder in connection with the 2007 disappearance of Alicia Minton.

A jury trial was scheduled to begin March 7. Circuit Judge David Clinger recently agreed to another trial date. Both the prosecution and the defense were in favor of the new date — June 14. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks.

Minton, then 29 and living in Bentonville, was last seen June 1, 2007, at Enterprise Rent-A-Car on West Walnut Street in Rogers. She was Greenway’s former girlfriend.

Greenway told at least six inmates that he killed Minton, according to an affidavit.

The affidavit says on June 10, 2007, Greenway’s then-girlfriend told police Greenway told her he killed Minton. The girlfriend, who was not identified, said Greenway took Minton to Beaver Lake on June 1, according to court documents.

According to the affidavit, Greenway piloted a 2001 Sun Tracker boat to an island on the lake. He said Minton was talking about his then-girlfriend, which made him angry. He came up behind Minton, cut her throat, stuck her head in the water because she was still alive, then stabbed her in the forehead. He wrapped Minton in a shower curtain, tied weights to her, got back on the boat, drove away from the island and dumped her body in the lake, according to the affidavit.

Minton’s body has not been found.

Greenway, who was identified as a suspect weeks after Minton’s disappearance, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in 2007 to drug charges. Greenway is being held in the Arkansas Department of Correction’s North Central Unit in Calico Rock.

Greenway faces life imprisonment without the benefit of parole or the death penalty if convicted of capital murder. Prosecutors have not said whether they will seek the death penalty.
