— Shiloh Christian girls basketball coach Vic Rimmer expressed a little concern about playing the opening game of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament and how his team would react.

Rimmer didn’t need to worry as long as Lindsey Roe stayed in the game. The senior post finished with 15 points and helped Shiloh move into Friday’s semifinal round with a 39-28 victory over Clarksville in George S. Jones Gymnasium.

Shiloh plays the winner of tonight’s Pottsville-Gentry game and earns a spot in next week’s Class 4A State Tournament in Heber Springs.

“Lindsey did get into a little foul trouble there in the third quarter,” Rimmer said. “But once she came back in the game, she responded.

“We’re getting the chance to play next week, and I’m excited about that.”

The Lady Saints (24-3) owned a 25-12 lead when Roe picked up her third foul midway in the fourth quarter.

Shiloh went for almost nine minutes without a fi eld goal and allowed Clarksville (13-13) to go on an 11-1 run and cut the deficit to 28-25 on Hannah Banning’s 3-pointer with 5 minutes, 12 seconds left.

Roe ended Shiloh’s dry spell by scoring inside at the 4:37 mark, and she wasn’t fi nished there. She hit back-to-back buckets as the Lady Saints scored the last eight points and pulled away.

“We started slowing things down and looking for specifi c shots,” Rimmer said. “The girls did a good job of running out set plays and executing the off ense.

“Our size played a big role out there.”

The Lady Panthers didn’t help their cause by going the fi nal 12 1 /2 minutes of the fi rst half without hitting a field goal.

Clarksville’s drought allowed Shiloh to score 15 unanswered points and eventually take a 19-7 halftime lead.

“I didn’t think our girls were ready for the physical play that Shiloh brings,” Clarksville coach Randy Talley said.

“Shiloh plays up to its size. Once we got over that initial shock for the first quarter and a half, we were all right.”

Roe was the only Shiloh player in double figures. Banning finished with 15 points to lead Clarksville.
