OZARK — Alice Doss Vardaman, 89, of Ozark died Tuesday in Ozark. She was born July 14, 1921, in Coal Hill, Ark., to J.B. and Deal Snoddy Doss. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ozark and a member of WMU.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Vardaman; son-in-law, Pete Mann; and twin infant grandsons.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Mann of Ozark and Carole Swindle and husband, Tim of Bentonville; four grandchildren, Russ Mann and wife, Keely and Paige Mann of Ozark; Lindy Swindle Kern and husband, Adam of Rogers; and Jeff Swindle and wife, Monique of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annabel Phillips of Dallas and Wanda Linton of San Antonio.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ozark under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark. The family will visit with friends at the church activities building from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.

• –––––ROGERS — Dorothy Jean (Marshall) Martin, 84 of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Magnolia, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Jamestown Nursing and Rehab in Rogers, Ark. Dorothy was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Magnolia, Ark., and was a bookkeeper and receptionist.

She was a former member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Magnolia and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dessie Marshall; husband, James Archer Martin; and brother, Sam Marshall.

Survivors are her son, James Martin and wife, Connie of Washburn, Mo.; daughters, Patricia Johnson and husband, Reuben of Louisville, Ky., and Carol Mc-Donald of Bentonville; brothers, Jack Marshall of Magnolia, Harry Marshall of Shreveport, La., and Billy Marshall of Placitas, N.M.; sister-in-law, Mary Helen Martin of Waldo; seven grandsons and four granddaughters; four great-grandsons and 13 greatgranddaughters; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the Lewis Chapel with Pastor Steve Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
