LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Republican Congressman Tim Griffin says the GOP is focused on passing a resolution to keep the government from shutting down, but he says the measure must include budget cuts
Griffin addressed a gathering of tea partiers and other activists Thursday in downtown Little Rock. Griffin said the budget measure will be a short-term resolution, and if the Senate doesn't pass it, the House will not be responsible if the government shuts down as a result.
Griffin said he hopes the cuts will help create new job opportunities, which will then alleviate some of the nation's $14 trillion debt.
Also present was tea party favorite Herman Cain, a presidential hopeful who says he plans to tackle these issues if elected in 2012.
