— GOLF Arkansas women finish 11th

Arkansas senior Kelli Shean shot back-to-back rounds of 72 leading the No. 13 Razorbacks to 11th place at the Central District Invitational Tuesday in Parrish, Fla.

Shean tied for 10th overall, shooting a three-round total of 219.

Freshman Emily Tubert tied for 30th overall at 226 followed by sophomore Victoria Vela, who tied for 50th at 230. Emma Lavy tied for 62nd at 234 and Rachel Carpenter was 72nd at 246.

Sixteenth-ranked Iowa State won with a four-over 868.

UCA women finish eighth

Central Arkansas’ women finished eighth in the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Julia Roth shot rounds of 74, 72 and 74 for a 4-over 220 and finished tied for seventh place overall. UCA shot rounds of 301-308-305 for a 914 total. Miami won the tournament at 888.

UA-Fort Smith women finish third

Oklahoma City University won the men’s title and Drury University the women’s in the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions Classic at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith.

Arkansas-Fort Smith’s women finished third with a 673, 10 strokes behind Drury. Arkansas-Monticello finished sixth among the men and eighth among the women. John Brown was seventh on the men’s side.

Oklahoma City won both individual titles, Clark Coller shot a two-round 143 while Paige Martin was the women’s winner with a two-day total of 158.

UA-Fort Smith senior Johannah Hendrex shot a 17-over par 87 during the final round and finished fifth with a 26-over par 166 to lead the Lady Lions.

Sophomore Jami Hendrix shot a 13-over par 83 in the final round and finished eighth with a 29-over par 169. Sophomore Jordan Bozeman carded a 13-over par 83 in the final round and finished tied for 10th with a 31-over par 171. Junior Sydney Tallon shot a 15-over par 85 in the final round and finished 13th with a 33-over par 173, and senior Jena Alexander carded a 22-over par 92 in the last round and finished tied for 14th with a 34-over par 174.

Lady Lions senior Lacy Martin, who competed as an individual, shot an 18-over par 88 in the final round and finished tied for 17th with a 35-over par 175.

UA-Monticello was led by Brett Hubbard, who shot a 77 in the first round and a 79 in the second round to finish in a tie for 18th place. The women’s team was led by Brooke Boyd, who finished in 24th place.

Individually for JBU, junior West Loveland led the team after shooting 159 (85, 74). He finished 25th overall. Junior Matt Brooker finished 28th overall with a 160 (85, 75), and sophomore Nathan Sudheimer shot a 169 (88, 81) to finish tied 34th. Sophomore Cameron Lindsey and freshman Dallas Boote finished with a 183 and 192 respectively.

BASKETBALL Arkansas Baptist women defeat N. Arkansas

Arkansas Baptist College’s women defeated North Arkansas Community College 80-53 Tuesday night in Little Rock. Shannice Reed led Arkansas Baptist with 18 points. In men’s action, Arkansas Baptist won 69-64. Nick McKenzie scored 19 points while Nick Young and Chris Davis both scored 10.
