PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Tax, Spending Policies Awful

— Dear Governor: Just a short note to comment on a couple of things.

The grocery tax is a travesty. To allow it to stand is absurd, and the great big half of 1 percent cut is just nothing. On a bill of $100 per week, this will save the working class, which is the one most affected - a whole 50 cents. Wow! Whatever will we do with all that money?

Ridiculous.

Second, you gave a select few a raise to which I have no objection. However, when the lottery chief got a “cost of living” raise of $6,000 to go with his $324,000, it just was over the top as the most moronic thing yet. I just don’t see how he made endsmeet without that raise. You are totally without a clue as to how many folks (those on Social Security) have to live.

Third, as to the Legislature getting credit for two years “work” by spending one year “on the job” for retirement purposes is another insult to the good citizens of Arkansas. They all get their salary plus over $50,000 in per diem per year (for all that traveling to meetings and conferences), which is a joke in itself. This whole idea is just one more example of the lawmakers lining their own pockets and putting the screws to the rest of us poor slobs too dumb to put a stop to things such as this.

Last, your lack of effort to join26 other states in fighting the ObamaCare package shows your true colors. You and this attorney general care nothing that about 75 percent of all the people objected to this being shoved down our throats. You said it was just too silly and a waste of time to fight it. The actual reason is that you were just following Obama like a good little Democrat. As most people know, it was declared unconstitutional anyway, no thanks to you.

I hope the good people of Arkansas remember all of this next time they vote. I doubt any of you will be missed.
