Owner matches classic winners

— Jess Jackson bred one Preakness winner to another on Monday.

Jackson, owner of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, arranged for the two to meet in a breeding shed at Lane’s End Farm, near Versailles, Ky., on Monday.

“Imagine what possibilities those two super horses might produce,” he said of Rachel Alexandra, the first filly in more than 80 years to beat the boys in the Preakness, and Curlin, who won the same race two years earlier.

Rachel Alexandra and Curlin were each 2-0 at Oaklawn Park, with Rachel Alexandra winning the 2009 Fantasy Stakes and Curlin winning the 2007 Arkansas Derby.
