ON TV CONTEST

— The meet-cute. The fights. The love triangles. The over-the-top, sweeps month weddings. The years upon years of sexual tension drawn out to a ridiculous degree all in the name of ratings. Ain’t TV love grand?

For the On TV Contest, the judge asked: What’s your favorite TV romantic pairing? Why?

Rusty Jones of Tuckerman threw his weight behind a pair of traditional couples: hard-working, loving John and Olivia and Grandpa and Grandma Walton from The Waltons.

For David Kelley of Fort Smith, the best couple was the short-lived, oft-forgotten duo of Sheriff Andy Taylor and cultured, “hot nurse” Peggy on The Andy Griffith Show.

Readers were allowed to match up any characters they chose, even if those characters weren’t on the same series, and winner Sandra Fry, also of Tuckerman, followed through on that.

The judge found the bizarre, but oddly compatible pairing hard to resist.

“I myself think that Herman Munster and Morticia Addams would make a lovely couple. They’re both a little spooky and they’re both a little kooky. Anyway, they truly do come from the same neighborhood. Who knows, maybe Gomez Addams and Lily Munster might end up together!”

Tune in next week for a brand-new contest.
