MULBERRY — Police say they're working to identify skeletal remains found in a ditch near Mulberry and determine how and when the person died.
The Southwest Times Record reports that Sgt. Ken Howard with the Crawford County sheriff's office said the remains were found Saturday evening by a woman walking along U.S. 64 east of Mulberry, near the Crawford-Johnson county line about 30 miles east of Van Buren.
Howard said the remains were partly intact, and a piece of clothing was found nearby. He said officers couldn't determine if the remains were those of a man or woman.
According to Howard, the remains have been sent to the state Crime Lab at Little Rock for identification and determination of a cause and time of death.
