— GULF SOUTH MEN S. ARKANSAS 88, HENDERSON STATE 75

ARKADELPHIA - Southern Arkansas (10-15, 2-10 Gulf South Conference West Division) shot 58 percent to beat Henderson State (7-17, 2-10) at the Duke Wells Center.

Chase Spruiell had 18 points to lead the Muleriders while Channin Harden added 16.

The Reddies committed 15 firsthalf turnovers as Southern Arkansas built a 46-36 lead at halftime.

Lucas Whisenhunt led Henderson State with 19 points and Marland Johnson had 13. Jonathan Fitzgerald scored 11 points and Josh French finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Henderson State shot 50 percent, but committed 22 turnovers.

ARK.-MONTICELLO 71, OUACHITA BAPTIST 70

ARKADELPHIA - Ricardo Hall scored 26 points and LA Farmer had 21 to help Arkansas-Monticello (13-11, 5-7 Gulf South West) hold off Ouachita Baptist (9-15, 4-8) at Bill Vining Arena.

Julian LaDay led the Tigers with 14 points and six rebounds and Jeremy Banks added 13 points and three assists.

Arkansas-Monticello shot 53 percent from the field while Ouachita Baptist shot 50 percent. The BollWeevils made 19 of 26 from the free throw line.

HARDING 62, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 43

SEARCY - Harding (21-3, 11-1) shot 71 percent and made all 17 free throws in the second half to defeat Christian Brothers (17-9, 5-7) for its sixth consecutive victory.

The Bisons trailed by 10 points at halftime after Christian Brothers’ Cory McArthy hit a 50-foot threepointer as time expired in the first half.

Harding completely controlled the second half, outscoring Christian Brothers 44-15 and held an 18-4 rebound advantage.

Christian Brothers shot only 19 percent in the second half and made only five free throws in the game.

Senior forward Kevin Brown led Harding with 22 points. He had nine of the Bisons’ 18 points in the first half. Senior guard Stephen Blake hit 10 of 10 from the free throw line and finished with 16.

Michael Drake, Christian Brothers’ leading scorer entering Saturday, led the Buccaneers with 15 points but played only 17 minutes before fouling out.

GULF SOUTH WOMEN HENDERSON STATE 99, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 84

ARKADELPHIA - Jazmine Ellishad 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Henderson State (14-10, 5-7 Gulf South Conference West Division) past Southern Arkansas (3-19, 2-10) at the Duke Wells Center.

Nyesha Adams scored 20 points, Malorie Marshall had 14, Gianna Woods 11 and Cheree Freeman added 10 for the Reddies.

Henderson State trailed 45-35 late in the first half before Ellis hit a three-pointer. Woods was fouled on a later play and she hit both free throws to cut the lead to 45-40.

The Reddies cut the deficit to 47-45 at halftime on another layup by Woods, ending the half on a 10-2 run.

Shenelda Levingston led Southern Arkansas with 23 points and eight rebounds.

Henderson State shot 48 percent (30 of 63) from the field, while Southern Arkansas shot 40 percent (29 of 73).

OUACHITA BAPTIST 71, ARK.-MONTICELLO 57

ARKADELPHIA- With a spot in the Gulf South Conference Tournament clinched, Ouachita Baptist (18-6, 9-3 Gulf South West) beat Arkansas-Monticello (6-18, 2-10) at Bill Vining Arena.

The Tigers shot 43 percent from the field and led 34-21 at halftime. They forced 18 turnovers and were led by A’Laeshia Adams’ 17 points. Domino Miller had 13 points, while Gabby Coleman finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

Ouachita Baptist held Arkansas-Monticello to just 14 percent shooting in the opening 10 minutes. After the Tigers increased their lead to 18 points, the Cotton Blossoms cut the deficit to 30-21 with 1:58 left on a three-pointer by Alayna Davis, who led Arkansas-Monticello with 17 points.

Channon Haywood added 12 points for the Cotton Blossoms, who shot 38 percent.

HARDING 50, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 44

SEARCY - Danielle Reiher and Sierra Rollins each had 11 points to lead Harding (17-7, 8-4) past Christian Brothers (8-16, 1-11) at Rhodes Field House.

The Bisons scored the first seven points and never trailed. Reiher capped a 13-2 run to extend Harding’s lead to 30-15 with 2:40 left in the first half.

Christian Brothers cut the lead to 47-43 with 37 seconds left when Aaramis Judson made two free throws. But Harding made 3 of 4 at the free throw line to seal the victory.

Normanique Johnson led the Buccaneers with 17 points before fouling out with 32 seconds left.
