— BASEBALL THROWING MOTION STUDY: Baseball and softball catchers are needed for a research study by the University of Arkansas Sport Biomechanics Group for baseball and softball. GOLF FIRST TEE TRAINING: The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas will conduct volunteer coach training sessions from 10 a.m.-noon on March 12 at the Tanyard Creek driving range in Bella Vista and from 10 a.m.-noon on March 19 at the Stonebridge Meadows driving range in Fayetteville. RUNNING TRAIN FOR THE CURE: The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K is April 30. A training program for the event will be offered with University of Arkansas women’s track coach Lance Harter and a team of race experts for three months. There are five sessions set for Tuesday, March 8 and 29 and April 12 and 26. The cost is $75 and includes race registration, a race singlet and a training log to chart one’s progress. WOMEN RUN ARKANSAS: The Fayetteville Women Can Run Arkansas Run/Walk group will offer twice weekly clinics starting Feb. 28. The clinics slowly work women up through a walk/ run method to running 3 miles and culminate with a 5K race in Conway on May 7. SOFTBALL ARCTIC CLASSIC: The City of Fayetteville will host the Arctic Classic Adult Softball Tournament on Feb. 26 at the Gary Hampton Sports Complex. The entry fee for this event will be $190, or a team can register early for $165. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Tuesday. There are two classifications - an upper (C and D - three home runs) and a lower (E - home runs are inning-ending out). This event will be sanctioned by USSSA. Mail entry fee and roster to the City of Fayetteville Department of Parks and Recreation, Arctic Classic, 113 W. Mountain St., Fayetteville, AR 72701.
