Bentonville Soccer Standout Power Signs With Arkansas

— Margaret Power couldn’t have chosen a better way to end her big moment Friday afternoon.

Someone asked Power if she would lead those in attendance in “Calling the Hogs” after she signed a letter of intent to play at Arkansas, and the Bentonville soccer standout obliged.

“I’m more excited now than I ever was,” said Power, who chose Arkansas over Mississippi State, Central Arkansas, Drake and Southeast Missouri State. “I’m ready for that next step to take place and be with my new teammates. I want to see what the next level is like.

“When I went on my visit there, everything clicked. The players and I clicked, and I knew at that point Arkansas was the place for me.”

Power will be a four-year starter for Bentonville when its season begins later this month. She earned all-conference in the 7A-West and All-State honors last season while being the anchor to the Lady Tigers’ defense.

She is also on the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association’s academic All-American team.”

“This is a big step for Margaret, and she’s so capable of doing it,” Bentonville coach Kristina Henry said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what she does at Arkansas.

“The nice part about this is Margaret knew this day was coming. Now she has that out of the way, she can go on and play.”

Power said she expects to be doing the same things on the soccer field once she gets to Arkansas.

“I’ll keep on keeping on,” she said. “I’ll be working hard out there and trying my best to contribute.”
