L.D. Dennis

HUNTSVILLE — L.D. Dennis, 85, of Huntsville died Feb. 16, 2011, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. He was born April 20, 1925, in Aurora to Audie Lee and Aggie Arizona Mullins Dennis.

He worked at Otasco in Huntsville for 25 years and later in maintenance for Huntsville schools, retiring in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Baker Dennis; a brother, Troy Dennis of Huntsville; and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.

Gilbert Lee Doss

FAYETTEVILLE — Gilbert Lee Doss, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away Feb. 16, 2011. Mr. Doss was born Aug. 5, 1931, to Roy and Eva Jane (Boen) Doss in Ozark, Ark.

Gilbert was united in marriage with Jewel (Osburn) Doss. He was an avid outdoorsman and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Mr. Doss is survived by three sisters, Hazel Casey of Wheeler, Ark., Loretta Kinio of Pryor, Okla., and Mary Sheppard of Siloam Springs, Ark. He was also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nellie Doss of Tulsa, Okla., and Louise Doss of Inola, Okla.

Mr. Doss is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Joseph, Billy, Jimmy, J.W. and Jessie.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Feb. 18, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Belt Cemetery in Ozark, Ark., with Pastor Wesley McGinnis officiating.

Louisa May Spencer

FAYETTEVILLE — Louisa May Spencer, 102, of Fayetteville died Feb. 16, 2011, in Fayetteville.

She was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Delaney to Johnny and Della Barker Wilson.

Survivors include three sons, Harold Spencer of Fayetteville, Joe Spencer of Cane Hill and Jerry Spencer of Ozark; a daughter, Doris Cagle of Fayetteville; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Belts Cemetery near Ozark.

Ola Wood Shelley

FAYETTEVILLE — Ola Wood Shelley, 100 years, seven months, and two days, of the Fayetteville City Nursing Home, was promoted to her heavenly home on Feb. 17, 2011. She was born July 15, 1910, in Asher, Ark., to Lee and Clarcie Davenport Smith.

She was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Wood and Noah Shelley; two sons, Gene and Marion Wood; one grandson; two great-grandsons; four brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by nine children, Hester Lee Crist and husband, Cliff, of Gardner, Kan., Ethel McKee and husband, Jerry, of Prairie Grove, Birtha Emrick of Chapman, Kan., John Wood and wife, Lola, of Lamar, Lou Sanders and husband, Oran, of Prairie Grove, Marilyn Sluder and husband, Jack, of Fayetteville, Mark Wood and wife, Marylyn, of Berryville, Loretta Devore and husband, Dale, of West Fork, and Sharion Broom and husband, Jim, of Magnolia, Ark.; one sister, Grace Glenn of Elm Springs; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; and many great friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Beard’s Funeral Chapel, with Jasper Hankins and Bill Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Howard Lee Woodward

HUNTSVILLE — Howard Lee Woodward, 76, of Huntsville died Feb. 15, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. He was born March 1, 1934, in Drakes Creek to Elmer Marion and Floria Irene Lawson Woodward.

He was an Army veteran and retired from the University of Arkansas custodial department.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Maxine Dies Woodward; a son, Russell Lee Woodward; a daughter, Janette Sue McNew and husband Mark of Mountain Home; and a sister, Janice Sue Moore of Huntsville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in the Bohannan Cemetery.
