Three Cited In Alcohol Compliance Check

— Police issued citations to employees at three businesses on charges of unknowingly furnishing alcohol to minors Wednesday night.

Fayetteville police officers participated in random compliance checks at 18 alcohol-permitted businesses.

Mellow Mushroom, 460 East Augustine Lane; Friendly Liquor, 816 North College Ave.; and Maxine’s Tap Room, 107 North Block Avenue, were the businesses accused of violations.

While employees who furnish alcohol to minors will face a misdemeanor offense, businesses in violation of compliance are placed on probation for up to one year and could be fined anywhere from $200 to $500 for a first offense.

The fine doubles on the second offense and the business’ alcohol permit could be suspended.

The enforcement division of the Alcohol Beverage Control Board enforces all laws and regulations pertaining to the sale of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes in Arkansas. Businesses do not receive any notice before a compliance check.
