Students Can Get FAFSA Help Sunday

Group Will Offer Assistance At Local High Schools

— Parents and students can get help filling out the free application for Federal Student Aid and the Arkansas Universal Scholarship Application.

Members of the Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators will offer assistance at 2 p.m. Sunday at Springdale High School, Rogers High School, Fayetteville High School and in Silas Hunt Hall at the University of Arkansas.

All high school students are eligible to attend at any site, regardless of residency. Students are asked to bring copies of their own and their parents’ 2010 tax return.

The U.S. Department of Education uses the federal application to determine if students qualify for higher education financial aid, such as income-based Pell grants.

The state application allows students to apply online for all lottery funded scholarships with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. This includes the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, which provides $5,000 a year for students at four-year college and universities.
