— GULF SOUTH MEN ARKANSAS TECH 76, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 66

The Muleriders cut what was once a 22-point Wonder Boys lead to five points in the second half, but No. 12 Arkansas Tech was able to remain unbeaten in the Gulf South West Division.

The Wonder Boys (20-3, 11-0) led 63-46 with 8:46 left before the Muleriders (9-14, 1-10) went on a 12-0 run to get within 63-58 with 6:46 left.

But Southern Arkansas couldn’t get any closer as Jeremy Dunbar led Arkansas Tech with 19 points, Johnie Davis added 18 and Matt Haney scored 12.

David Noble led the Muleriders with 20 points and Teviin Morris added 10. Channin Harden, the conference’s third-leading scorer at 17.6 points per game, was held to 6 points on 2 of 4 shooting.

HARDING 91, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 71

MONTICELLO - Stephen Blake continued his hot shooting and the Bisons won their fifth consecutive game at Steelman Fieldhouse.

Blake led Harding (20-3, 10-1) with 21 points and Kevin Brown added 20 points.

Bradley Spencer scored 17 points, while Kirk Porter had 12 and Hayden Johnson added 11.

Ricardo Hall scored 20 points for the Boll Weevils (12-11, 4-7), who lost their third consecutive game. Sergio Crowe had 18, Jerrell Boswell scored 12 and D’Angelo Dean added 11.

UAM’s LA Farmer, the conference’s leading scorer at 18.8 points per game, was held to 6 points on 3 of 11 shooting.

OUACHITA BAPTIST 53, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 49

MEMPHIS - The Tigers came back from an 11-point halftime deficit to win for just the second time in five games.

Ouachita Baptist was down 29-18 at halftime, trailed by 13 points early in the second half and were still down by seven points with less than five minutes left. But Nigel Ramsey and Austin Mitchell each made three-pointers to get within 43-42 with 4:02 left and Mitchell’s three-pointer with 2:00 left tied the game at 47-47.

A pair of free throws by Ramsey with 1:16 left gave the Tigers (9-14, 4-7) a 49-47 lead, and they scored their final four points on free throws to hang onto the victory.

Emmanuel Engulu led the Tigers with 16 points, while Scott Day added 12.

Cory McCarthy scored 13 points for Christian Brothers (17-8, 5-6) and Harry Green added 12.

DELTA STATE 79, HENDERSON STATE 73

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Reddies got to within a single point in the final minutes after trailing by 19 points at halftime, but couldn’t complete a comeback against the Statesmen.

Delta State (13-11, 7-4) led 45-26 after the first half, but Henderson State (7-16, 2-9) got to within 73-72 with 2:28 left after Zech Smith’s three-point play. The Reddies later got to within 75-73 with 1:26 left, but Marqueys Brown’s layup and Phil Turner’s dunk provided the final score.

Smith led the Reddies with 16 points,while Josh French had 15, Lucas Whisenhunt scored 12 and Jonathan Simms added 11 for the Reddies.

GULF SOUTH WOMEN ARKANSAS TECH 97, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 80

MAGNOLIA - All five Arkansas Tech starters scored at least 13 points and the Golden Suns, No. 5 in NCAA Division II, shot 55 percent from the field in a victory at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.

Jenny Vining scored 25 points, while Natalia Santos scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds. Laura Beth Anderson scored 16 points, Jessica Weatherford had 15 and Shaquilah Davis added 13 for the Golden Suns (21-2, 10-1).

Southern Arkansas (3-18, 2-9) kept within nine points throughout the first half, but Arkansas Tech’s 11-2 run midway through the second half made it 57-44 and the Golden Suns led by at least 10 points the rest of the game.

Cha’Kia Lee led the Lady Muleriders with 23 points, Goldie White had 15 and Shenelda Levingston added 14.

OUACHITA BAPTIST 78, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 48

MEMPHIS - Ouachita Baptist forced 28 turnovers and held host Christian Brothers to less than 30 percent field-goal shooting while coasting to a Gulf South Conference West Division victory.

The Lady Tigers (17-6, 8-3) led 47-22 at halftime and three players scored at least 14 points.

Tamara Robinson led Ouachita Baptist with 16 points in just 20 minutes, while Gabby Coleman and A’Laeshia Adams each scored 14.

Christian Brothers (8-15, 1-10) used just six players, and four of them played at least 37 minutes.

HARDING 64, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 58

MONTICELLO - Harding rebounded from a slow start get a step closer to clinching a spot in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

The Lady Bisons (16-7, 7-4) trailed by 11 points in the first half at Steelman Fieldhouse before tying the game at 22-22 with a 12-1 run. Harding never trailed by more than four points the rest of the game and pulled away from a 58-58 tie with 1:53 left by scoring the game’s final six points.

Kristen Celsor led all scorers with 16 points for Harding, while Danielle Reiher scored 12 and Sierra Rollins had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Alex Hart led the Cotton Blossoms (6-17, 2-9) with 14 points, Chelsea Johnson scored 13, Channon Haywood 11 and Jerica Hubbard added 10.

DELTA STATE 66, HENDERSON STATE 54

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Lady Reddies held the Lady Statesmen (22-1, 10-1) to their lowest scoring output in a conference game this season, but couldn’t score enough to complete an upset.

Chrystal Harrison led Henderson State (13-10, 4-7) with 13 points, but no other player scored more than Malorie Marshall’s nine points and the Lady Reddies committed 20 turnovers.
