FAYETTEVILLE — Police arrested a man Thursday after allegations he raped a young girl multiple times over a four-year period.
Robert Lee Sanford, 18, of 746 Daisy Lane in Fayetteville faces a felony charge of rape.
Fayetteville police were notified of a sexual abuse report involving a 14-year-old Jan. 20.
According to a preliminary arrest report, the girl ran away from her home in Fayetteville last month and was found in Albuquerque, N.M.
She reportedly told authorities in New Mexico she had been raped by a family member in Arkansas multiple times since she was 8 and until she was 12.
Sanford initially denied the allegations to police, but later acknowledged sexual contact he said was consensual, according to the report.
Sanford was in the Washington County Detention Center Thursday without bond.
