Board Greenlights Club Renovation

— The Property Owners Association voted to move forward with the Metfield Clubhouse renovation Thursday during a board meeting at the Bella Vista Country Club.

The plan includes having the club’s large room be used as a multiuse room, wiring the room for the possibility of exercise equipment or use as a meeting room, and equip the facility with shower capability. The board voted in January 2010 to spend $700,000 on the renovation.

Other aspects of the renovation include drainage improvement, attic insulation and ventilation, low-sloped roofing, restroom expansion and updates, terminating and finishing beams at the roof line, new interior finishes and light fixtures and a slight increase to the facility’s square footage, according to a association news release.

Tommy Bailey, association general manager, said during a recent work session, the board talked about what to do with the large room in the clubhouse. A few options were to make it a fitness center, a multipurpose room or a multipurpose room with wiring for electricity and cables for a future fitness area, he said.

In other business, the board approved the Election Committee’s recommendation to change the counting processes for board elections and designate electronic ballot counting as the method that represents the official count.
