Why is it this poor man has been put through this. It seems he has done nothing wrong according to the police and the prosecuters office. This man should get a letter of apology from all involved for destroying this poor man's name. Why is it the person's who accused him of this have not been fired for such a waiste of city resources. Who called the shots on this. A man is forced to quit his job,and it was never proven he did anything wrong. He has had his face on the front page of your paper many times, and branded as a thief. All of you with the city and your paper should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope he takes all of you to court and wins.
I remember when your paper had a picture of Wyman Morgan on the front page over him being arrested fpr beating up his wife, I also remember your paper posting a article on the front page about Wyman Morgan waisting over half a million of the tax payers dollars on a faied computer program that he knew was not working properly and he kept making the payments. Morgan never received any punishment for any of this. Morgan should have prosecuted and fired, why wasn't he.
What a shame to loose a long time employee over this type of treatment by this city. It would seem this man had a long term loyality to this city, and would not have been promoted through the ranks to chief if he had been a thief as this city has smeared him with. I do not know this man but he must have been doing something right. To do this to him while he is going through a divorce is disgusting. How is it your paper can post these articles. I thought the law is these type of things can only be released to the public if the investigation ends in a suspension or dismissal. All of you involved in damaging this poor man should hang your head in disgrace. You have lost a good man, who will be next because he may have stepped on someones toes.
The mayor, city attorney and the police chief should all resign in disgrace, but they won't they will just sit around at Neal's and the Sunset Grill talking about how smart they are and who is going to be next for their intertainment. I ask the city council to do something about this but I know they won't.

Does anyone else see the irony that this man was accused of being paid for hours he didn't work, but has been "suspended with pay" since October 19th, therefore being paid for over two months of not working due to this genius administrative decision?

People that know Duane Atha consider him hard working , honest , friendly. I personally cannot say the same for certain members of Springdale's finest ( police).

I don't know anybody involved in this and I don't live in Springdale, but I wonder who made the accusations and what axe they had to grind.

Having reviewed previous articles about this situation, it appears there is more going on than can be said in the paper due to FOI rules. A mechanic fired and arrested for misuse of funds, on going investigations, as the Chief he is ultimately responsible, so until all facts are known, it seems alittle premature and immature to be calling for other employees jobs, along with trash talking about the police department, that comment seems way off base. Also before any comments are made about my service it is with the Army not as a civil servant.

It is pretty easy to tell you are on the council or have been on the council, tell the truth and fess up to being part of the problem not part of the cure.

Rumple,
I am not nor have i ever been on any government board. I am curious how it is easy to tell i am a member of the council as you say. Is it because i know the difference between waist and waste? If i was a member of the council i would be proud to say it publicly. I also agree that the first amendment is a wonderful thing, it allows you to publicly criticize its use as you did in your first post.

I stand corrected you are right, I was wrong about you being a council member. You could never get elected. Oh! You should proof your comments, what's with the small letter i you use 4 times in your stupid post. Don't you know the difference between I and i, D A. Next time you try to make a comment, try to make some sense. If you can't find someone a little smarter than you ( which should be easy) to help you. It is obvious you don't have the intelligence to understand the concept of any issue.
