Charter Request

Lincoln school officials are preparing to request another school charter that will affect how Lincoln High School operates.

The request is to be taken up Jan. 9 by the Arkansas State Board of Education.

The new charter, if approved, will allow the district to convert the high school to a New Tech high school. New Tech is a model put forth by Gov. Mike Beebe to accelerate and transform secondary education in Arkansas to include more science, technology, engineering and math. The governor’s initiative is called STEM Works.

If approved, the high school would undergo a 100 percent conversion to the new instructional platform, said Principal Mary Ann Spears.
