Fall commencement returns

More than 600 receive degrees during UA ceremony

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/MICHAEL WOODS --12/17/2011-- University of Arkansas graduates listen to the guest speakers as they await their degrees during the Fall University of Arkansas commencement ceremony Saturday morning at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville. The first U of A Fall commencement in 40 years was held Saturday with about 700 graduates receiving their degrees.

About 625 students received diplomas Saturday in the University of Arkansas’ first fall graduation ceremony since 1971.

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/BILL BOWDEN  12/12/11  David Mounsey of Fort Smith buys lottery tickets from Sissy Hensley, manager of Freddy's One Stop convenience store in Moffett, Okla. Freddy's was the No. 1 lottery ticket seller in Oklahoma before Arkansas's lottery started in 2009. Since then, Freddy's lottery ticket sales have dropped by 71 percent.
