Hunger in Northwest Arkansas is a reality and the need for food is increasing, according to people who work with the hungry.

FAST FACTS

Childhood Hunger

17.2 million American households struggle to put food on the table.

10.5 million kids eligible for free or reduced-price school breakfast do not benefit from the program.

Six of seven eligible children do not get free summer meals.

In 2010, 40.3 million people in more than 18.6 million households across America got help through food stamps; about half of those households — 8.9 million — were households with children.
