West Fork Middle School Wins $25,000 In National Contest

Recycling program, canned food collection garner a top prize for students

The cheerleaders cheered, a corporate mascot named Click pranced around the gym floor and West Fork Middle School students were excited to accept a check for $25,000 Thursday.

Donning a George Washington costume, Centerton Gamble Elementary fourth-grader Samuel Pitt, 10, describes the "Crystal University" that he and his friends constructed inside the Experience Art Studio at the Crystal Bridges Musuem of American Art in Bentonville on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. The musuem held a news conference acknowledging a $1 million gift from the Jack and Melba Shewmaker Family which will benefit the hands-on programs at the museum.
