Fort Smith chief says semi-automatic rifle matter nearly closed

Feds checked department’s rifles’ purchase

The Fort Smith police chief said Thursday he expects the U.S. Department of Justice to clear the department of wrongdoing involving semiautomatic rifles the department bought with federal asset forfeiture money and resold to officers.
