Eric Mason, 22, of Fort Smith was sentenced Tuesday afternoon to 45 years in prison and fined $10,000 after a Sebastian County Circuit Court jury convicted him of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Joshua Walter, 27, during a fight July 1.

The jury of six women and six men deliberated for 3 1/2 hours Tuesday before returning with its sentence. The jury found Mason guilty Monday.

Circuit Judge Stephen Tabor approved the jury’s sentence.
