AIRPORT COMMISSION: Runway Extension Eyed

PROJECT WOULD ADD 398 FEET, COULD ATTRACT LARGER JETS

An airplane lands Wednesday at the Springdale Airport looking south from the Jones Center in Springdale. The Airport Commission has turned in a plan for the airport calling for a 398-foot runway extension.

The city Airport Commission is planning a runway extension that could attract larger corporate jets.

Here are some of the more expensive projects that could be completed during the next 20 years.

  • Runway extension: $2.05 million

  • Taxiway realignment: $2.57 million

  • Hangar expansion: $500,000

  • Robinson Avenue access road: $800,000

  • Emma Avenue property purchase: $2.80 million

  • Terminal access road: $800,000

  • Apron expansion: $525,000
