Third Generation Competes In Cattle Show

Jessica Crawley, 14, of Maysville leads her milking shorthorn Jaclyn to the show ring Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, during the Benton County Fair's Junior Dairy Cattle Show in the Benton County Fairground's livestock barn in Bentonville. Jaclyn was awarded grand chamion and senior champion in the show. Crawley's dairy cows were awarded supreme cow and supreme heifer titles along with four grand champion and one reserve champion event ribbons.

Jessica Crawley, 14, kneed her 1,200-pound cow gently in the hip Thursday. The cow decided the show ring at the Benton County Fair was a perfect place for a nap.

8 a.m.: Market Lamb Show/Showmanship to follow in the small arena

6 p.m.: Cloverbud Lamb Show/Cloverbud Showmanship in the small arena

6 p.m.: Breeding Sheep Show to follow Cloverbud Show in the small arena

7 p.m.: Beef Showmanship/Comm. Heifer Show/Steer Show in the large arena

9 a.m.-noon: Kids’ Day for school classes

• Auditorium

11 a.m.: 4-H/FCCLA consumer judging

• Midway

5 p.m.: Murphy Brothers carnival opens

6:30 p.m.: In Unison performing in the grandstand west of the midway

8 p.m.-midnight: Rivers Edge Band concert in the grandstand west of the midway
