Hangar Rentals Hold Steady

Hangar rentals in Northwest Arkansas city airports have remained high despite a slow economy.

AT A GLANCE

Parking for Planes

Aircraft can be stored in a variety of places at most airports. A look at various options:

Tiedowns: Planes can be secured to steel loops in the pavement of parking areas by running ropes between the loops and the plane’s fuselage.

T-hangars: Single-plane hangars shaped like the letter T, where a plane can be pushed in, facing outward. The tail fits into the base of the T, while the wings occupy the wider space at the top of the T. Some T-hangars are open in front, while others have folding or sliding doors that enclose the front of the hangar.

Executive hangars: Square or rectangular buildings of 3,000 to 6,000 square feet, usually with sliding doors that open at least one side of the hangar completely. The open floor plan inside can hold two small planes, or one midsized aircraft.

Corporate hangars: Similar to executive hangars, but larger, ranging from 8,000 square feet up. These hangars can house multiple small-or medium-sized airplanes, or one large plane.
