Fall Cleanup Schedule Released

— The city Solid Waste and Recycling Division will sponsor fall cleanups in each ward for the disposal and recycling of bulky items.

Cleanup will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

w Ward 4 — Sept. 24 at Owl Creek School, 375 N. Rupple Road; and Shaver Foods parking lot, 1367 S. Beechwood Ave.

w Ward 3 — Oct. 15 at Elks Lodge, 4444 N. Crossover Road; and Vandergriff Elementary, 2975 E. Township St., enter off Mission Boulevard and exit on Township Street

w Ward 1 — Oct. 22 at Root Elementary, 1529 E. Mission Blvd.; and Solid Waste & Recycling Facility, 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road

w Ward 2 — Oct. 29 at Woodland Jr. High School, 7 E. Poplar St., in front parking lot; and Church of Christ, 310 W. Center St.

Fayetteville residents may bring bulky items to any of the cleanups, but are required to bring a recent copy of their water bill to verify residency.

Items allowed include couches, chairs, mattresses, large appliances, carpet, padding, vinyl flooring, drywall, paneling, lawn mowers, water heaters and plumbing fixtures. Only one Freon-bearing appliance will be accepted for free; additional appliances are $20 each to cover Freon removal.

Household hazardous wastes such as paint, thinners, solvents, batteries, cleaning chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and automotive fluids, household garbage, commercial garbage, medical waste, dirt, rocks, brush, leaves, grass and tires will not be accepted.
