Winners Named In Shows

TEEN CAPTURES GRAND CHAMPION HONORS IN LIVESTOCK EXHIBITION

The Junior Livestock Auction, an Arkansas State Fair saluting outstanding junior livestock exhibitors, raised $109,000 in premiums earlier this month at the State Fairgrounds.

The premiums were awarded to the 4-H Club and FFA members who showed champion market animals during events held earlier in the week at the Arkansas State Fair.

Arkansas Farm Bureau provided the high premium bid for the grand champion steer. Arkansas Farm Bureau also topped the bidding for the grand champion market hog. The Poultry Federation was the high bidder for the grand champion pen of broilers, and Arkansas Farm Bureau was the high bidder for the grand champion market lamb. Riceland Foods was the high bidder for the grand champion market goat. Arvest Bank purchased the best in show rabbits, meat pen; and Arkansas Farm Bureau purchased the best in show rabbits, single fryer.

Arkansas Farm Bureau paid $10,000 in premiums to Katy Tunstill of Fayetteville, who showed the grand champion steer, which she calls “Teebow.” She is the 15-year-old daughter of Darrell and Sheri Tunstill and is a 10th-grader at Elkins High School. She is a member of Washington County 4-H.

Additional winners were announced in Junior Breeding Beef Cattle Shows at the Arkansas State Fair.

Junior Market Steer

The following youths, all showing steers, were awarded premiums.

Group 1 - Paige Pruitt of Gravette, $1,000 from the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture; and Brent Dorn of Gentry, $1,000 from Arkansas Farm Bureau.

Group 6 - Hailey Hudlow of Fayettevillle, $1,100 from Arvest Bank.

The following youth, showing a lamb, was awarded a premium.

Group 2 - Kayton Coff ee of Bentonville, $600 from Simmons First Bank.

Junior Market Hogs

The following youths, all showing hogs, were awarded premiums.

Group 8 - Kenton Tajchman of Hiwasse, $375 from Thomas Blackmon and Blackmon Auction Co.; and Blake Belts of Hiwasse, $475 from Pulaski County Farm Bureau.

Group 15 - Brooke Belts of Gravette, $620 from Pulaski County Farm Bureau; and Kendall Yarbrough of Bentonville, $775 from Arkansas Farm Bureau.

An additional $24,000 in bonuses was contributed by various businesses and individuals.
