— CROSS COUNTRY UALR’s men win conference title

UALR won the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky.

Eight UALR runners finished in the top 25.

Jonathan Cherono, Johnny Purvis and Dustin Mettler earned all-conference honors. Cherono led UALR. He finished fourth overall in the 8K race with in 25 minutes, 7.5 seconds.

SOCCER UALR’s women beat Arkansas State

UALR (7-12-1, 3-7-1) beat Arkansas State (7-11-1, 3-8) 2-1 in overtime Friday in Jonesboro.

Kara Nitti scored for Arkansas State. UALR’s Taylor Gabert tied the game in the 87th minute, and Adrianna Queen scored the winning goal.

UCA’s women win in last minute

Central Arkansas (6-8-3, 2-4-2) scored in the 90th minute for a 2-1 victory Friday over Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La.

Karly Dagys scored the game-winning goal. Alex Barnett also scored.

Hendrix’s men win, women lose at home

Hendrix men (6-7-1, 2-5-1) beat Birmingham-Southern 3-2 Friday in Conway.

Duncan Keegan scored two goals, and Dylan Reed scored the final goal.

It was the first victory over Birmingham-Southern in four attempts.

Hendrix’s women (2-11-1, 0-7-1) lost to Birmingham-Southern 3-0.

Goalkeeper Allison Mosley had 13 saves.

VOLLEYBALL UCA streak ends

Central Arkansas (22-7, 11-1) lost to Texas-San Antonio 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 Saturday in San Antonio.

Central Arkansas had won 33 consecutive conference matches.

Jessica Hays had 19 kills. Cristin Curl had 14 digs.

UALR swept on road

UALR (3-17, 1-9) lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 25-15, 25-14, 25-23 Friday in Lafayette, La.

Paige Gantar had 10 kills. Daniele Souza Moura had nine digs.

Hendrix wins two in tournament

Hendrix (14-21) beat Rust College 25-10, 25-8, 25-19 and Williams Baptist 25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22 Saturday at the Hendrix Ghost Host tournament in Conway.

SWIMMING AND DIVING UALR finishes second

UALR finished second Friday at the Hendrix Classic in Conway. Ouachita Baptist won the event.

Holly Myers finished third in the 200-yard backstroke in 2 minutes, 12.31 seconds. Melissa Martin finished second in diving.
